What is a dedicated IP address and what is it good for?

In a typical shared hosting environment, it's not uncommon for hundreds of websites to share the same IP address. By contrast, a dedicated IP address is used for your site(s) and your site(s) alone. Dedicated IP addresses may be purchased and used to improve mail reliability and, but are also required for the use of SSL certificates.

To isolate the content, please be advised that a dedicated IP address is required for all adult websites on our network.
