I am receiving an error sending e-mail

If you are receiving the following error message or bounce-back:

550 5.7.1 [CSR] Our system has detected an unusual amount of unsolicited email originating from your address

This means that our systems have detected that your mailbox has been used to send a significant amount of spam in the last 24 hours. It is highly probable that your mailbox has been compromised and your password has been exposed, allowing an attacker to hi-jack your account and send spam without your knowledge. We strongly recommend that you change your mailbox password immediately to something more secure. Once the account has been secured, this error will clear within 24 hours.

If you are receiving the following error message or bounce-back:

Domain <yourdomain.tld> has exceeded the max defers and failures per hour (5/5 (100%)) allowed

This means that your hosting account has sent 5 or more e-mails within the last hour that have been rejected or otherwise have failed or been deferred at the server, and you cannot send any further e-mails within this time period. This restriction is in place to prevent accounts from sending large scale UBE or from trying to "guess" recipient e-mail addresses. You will need to wait up to an hour for this restriction to be lifted.

Please carefully examine any failures or bounce-back messages you receive to prevent this from happening in the future. If you receive a failure or bounce-back informing you that an e-mail address does not exist, or is rejecting mail from you, please do not re-attempt to send any further messages to this address.
