You all seem very good at defending your corner at This*! It's great to actually see there are people behind the website.

I'm looking for a host for a new project and I'm keeping This* at the top of my list so far.

Might be with you soon!

Jason, thanks for your comment. I believe I refer to sharing a server a few times in my article, so I hope that's clear for most people. If not, then you're absolutely right, this was intended to be for shared environments only.

Speaking of dedicated hosting though, they are also oversold from a bandwidth perspective. 100Mbit ports are rarely provided to individual servers and are often shared amongst either entire racks or large portions of the rack. Though they advertise 100Mbit, or perhaps Terrabytes of data transfer, theoretically you're never going to be able to utilise that.

You probably should have stated that this is limited to shared hosting.

Dedicated hosting isn't anything like this. Granted, the entrypoint for this type of hosting starts at around $119/month on the low end so it requires a different type of buyer.

Yeah,
One interesting note: some hosts will advertise that they support PHPadmin and Mysql. Though its great that they took the time to upload this software, note that both are free and because of such they should be standard for web hosts
